Uber and the benefits of Uber
As I look at technologies that I have learned the last few years there is one that jumps out at me. It is Uber. It is something after using is absolutely amazing. For those that don't know Uber is a technology that allows people to call for a ride and an Uber driver shows up driving their personal car. I am going to talk about just a few ways I use Uber and the benefits of Uber.
The first way I use Uber is basically just like a taxi. When I have been on vacation or travel for work I have used Uber to get from place to place. It is just as easy as a Taxi cause most places like Las Vegas has incorporated Uber into the travel department. The other way that I have used Uber is to travel to Football games. I love Boise State Football and go to plenty of there games. I have also used Uber when attending a Denver Broncos Game. Just before the games, I get an Uber and it can drive me right up to the stadium and I don't have to worry about parking or traffic.
There are a lot of benefits to Uber. I am going to try talk about the main ones I have dealt with when using Uber. The first one is Uber is cheaper than a taxi. When traveling from an airport my in-laws took a taxi and we came in on a later flight and took an Uber. Our Uber was half the price of the taxi. The next benefit is on the Uber app it tells you how much the ride will be before you request it. You don't have to worry about traffic or going the long way around and the price going up. The next benefit is you put in where you want to go and the map on the Uber app will tell you the route of travel, so it is much safer. You will know if your driver is ever going off course. The app also tells you who is coming to pick you up what they are driving and what other riders have rated them, so you know if it is safe. Be careful the driver can rate you as a rider and other Uber drivers won't give you a ride. The final benefit is no money ever exchanges hands. The app will take out the payment automatically and deposit it into the driver's account. Remember to tip. These are people that are trying to make a living being an Uber driver with their personal cars. One driver told me that Uber takes 25% of the ride and the rest is their paycheck plus they keep tips. I hope next time everyone travels they try Uber it really is much better than a taxi.

ReplyDeleteI like what you did with this weeks technology tool! Infographics are a great way to display information in an easy, clear, and simple way. Taking a topic, such as Uber and highlighting features of service was a good idea. Coupled with your text, the infographic adds a nice support for someone who quickly wants to see the benefits.

I decided to try Uber this last week but as a driver rather than a passenger. I did lyft as well. Uber has the most awareness so the majority of my riders came from but I did get some lyft passengers as well. I like lyft better as a driver because they pay their drivers a little better and they charge their customers a little less. Another feature that I liked about lyft was that they gave me a customer referral code (not just to refer drivers). So everyone who downloaded the lyft app and put my code in got $10 off of their next ride. I also receive a $5 referral bonus. My code is shawn82417. You don’t have to get a ride from me to get the credit either. I would like to say too that these two services are decreasing the numbers of drunk drivers infinitely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Jeff. I have never used Uber but I have heard people talk about it. It is good to know the benefits of it. I am now thinking of using it in my future travels and possible the next BSU game I go to.
