New Technology
As I go through our assignment of learning a new technology. It Is amazing to me how things have changed over the last few years. It used to be that we buy something new from the store or get a new device like VCR and it would come with a large instruction manual. In the current time for the most part everything is a learn as you go system. If we get a new phone or device like that, hardly anybody reads any instructions on it. They don't look through the manual at all. That's if a manual is even provided. Almost everything is a play with it and figure it out as you use it. I am currently trying to learn a couple different Technologies for our assignments and are emanuals for class. I'm finding out that we learn a new app or new technology incredibly fast when we just go to the use application. This seems to be a very good way of learning something but I only have one concern. If we use an application and we find a way that it works with our needs. I wonder if we really using this technology to all of its capability. The chance is we are probably not using all of it. When learning a new technology we must find all the ways that can make the technology run at its Peak Performance. I myself will continue to push outside the boundaries on this new technology so I can learn everything I can about it and hopes of being able to pass on the information to the next person.
What an interesting point of view, thank you for sharing this post. I didn't really think about technology instructions that way. I think this way of learning technology could also be a very good thing in the way that people are learning to find answers without having to rely on others. I am curious as to why you feel that people need to use technology to it's full capacity? If they figure out a way to use it with just their needs, why else do you think they need to learn more?
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI have noticed at work that we use several programs in a very limited way. For example we have areally excellent program that incorporates the entire Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) and Analysis Design Develop Implement Evaluate (ADDIE) processes. We use it as a test generator. I am completely dumbfounded by this because this program could do so much more for us. Anyway...I am sympathetic to what you are saying. Thanks for the input. Steve
